In order to complete the upgrade to Windows 11, we did have to install it from scratch. This meant having to backup all the customer’s user data, windows credentials, antivirus licence details and email password, etc.
It would have been easier to do a straight upgrade from the existing windies 10 operating system, but that simply wasn’t possible.
We got the new windows 11 installed, restored the user data and set up all their apps as they were before.
There were a couple of device drives missing that couldn’t be located by windows, such as the SM bus controller.. however, a quick search online was all that was required to find the drivers, then simply download and install them.
