Laptop Screen Problems
Laptop screens can suffer from a few different problems and we have seen them all.  There's
inverter failure which is the part that takes the power and increaser the voltage to the LCD
screen, if this fails then the screen will appear dark but will still have the picture displayed.

If there's vertical bands or striping this can be the result of the controller circuitry being the
faulty, this is located behind the screen and would mean the whole LCD would need to be
replaced.

No picture or the picture cutting out when the screen is moves is usually due to either a bad
connection or a damaged video cable.  The video cable is connected from the motherboard
underneath the keyboard, to the back at the top of the screen.  At the point where the screen
meets the Laptop body this cable comes up usually in the left hinge area.  Over time this is
flexed back and forward if a laptop is opened and closed, this can cause damage to the video
cable and would require that it be replaced to resolve the problem.
